Trev, Thanks for leading me to these videos. Although I find it difficult to believe these myths, I do think that there is always some truth in their mix. In fact, I recall one Sunday afternoon, I happen to be visiting my Mother and Father when, my Father's Godfather, Ben and wife Helen, stopped by for a visit. Helen, who was very interested in the Paranormal, asked me if there was anything new I was investigating. I answered "No", and that I was busy at work in my regular job. I said, "How about you, have you heard anything?” She also said, "No" but she then turned to Ben and said, "Hey Benny, why don't you tell Frank about what happened to you when you were a boy growing up in Italy?” Just then, you could see Ben’s eyes get wide and angry. Helen said, "Go ahead, you'll probably feel better after you tell him. You know, you can finally get it off your chest". So I said to Ben who was visibly shaken by the request, "Ben, you don’t have to if you don't want, I’ll understand. Benny paused, took a deep breath and said,” No, I’ll tell you”. He went on to say he was 12 years old (1909) and was tending his family’s sheep in the hills of Tuscany. When all of sudden he heard a commotion among the sheep. He ran quickly as he could and when he got there he saw what he thought was an unusual looking wolf, it stood upright and was holding a small lamb as if he had hands to grip it. Showing no far Ben said he ran swinging his large staff wildly, at the creature. Ben said, the creature ran first on all fours then sprung up and ran on its two hind legs. He said he was never able to hit it and after it was over, he ran to the other side of the pasture to find his uncle and tell him what just happed. He said once he found his uncle he wasn’t sure if he should tell him what he saw because he thought they may think he was just looking for a way to get out of tending the sheep. He said he didn’t care and he was going to tell him exactly what happened. Ben told his uncle exactly what happened and to Ben’s surprise, his uncle just asked, if he was alright? His uncle acted as if this had occurred before. That’s when his uncle went on to tell me that this was not the first time this creature tried to get one of the sheep. It happened to him just the week before. While tending the sheep at another part of the valley, he too saw the creature attacking the sheep and fought it off with his staff.
Ben went on to say that the following day, the men from village formed a hunting party and found the creature, cornered it and kill it. Ben then said he asked both his father and uncle to describe the creature to him; they both got up from the kitchen table turned away without saying another word and left the room very upset. Ben went on to add, that the talk around the village was that it was a local teenager who was always considered "different", that was killed by the hunting party. But ever since then, there were no more attacks on the sheep. You could see my father's Godfather face change with a look of horror while telling me about this account. I got goose bumps just hearing about it. My father, seeing Ben still upset came over with a double-shot of Canadian Club. Ben swallowed that drink in just one gulp. Well, I don't have to tell you, things got real quiet for a while, as we sat there in a stupor. I guess after hearing Ben’s account, you start to wonder what a "myth" is and what is "real". Again Trev, thanks for videos. Frank
